Hello all-
Been creepin' this gem of a website for some time. I'm starting to build my first AR-15. New to the platform, but not to guns. I'm an avid hunter and gun fan. My Father is currently in the stages of opening a 5 star shooting and tactical training center/range in S.E Wisconsin. I C.C a Kimber Solo 9mm. I was going to purchase a rifle, but I since have learned on how easy (for a lack of better terms) it is to build one. Naturally I have a few questions which I’m hoping to get resolved. Main uses for the rifle will be personal defense and small game hunting. Below is what I have in mind.

-Mega arms stripped lower
-PSA complete LPK (includes Magpul stock, grip, ect)
-PSA blem upper, stripped
-16” mid-length 1/7 BCM barrel
-MI T-series gen 2 free float guard and gas block
-Spikes tact. Comp. bolt carrier
-DPMS A2 flash hider

I’m leaving out a few parts such as charging handle, and minor upper rec. parts. Other than that, what is your expert opinion on current set-up? Still un-sure of optics at this point.

A few questions:
1)Will the Midwest- ind. Free float hand guard work on this set-up
2)The barrel has M4 feed ramps, but to my knowledge, the PSA upper doesn’t. From what I understand it should feed/fire fine. Is this true?

I don’t want to go all crazy on my first build, so any suggestions will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance guys!

I'm not sure what you mean by "Comp. bolt carrier."  If you are refering to their lightweight-BCG (with the holes cut out of it) you may need an adjustable gas-block to tune the system properly.  If you are referring to their Dynacomp muzzle-brake and a BCG then you can disregard the previous statement.

-DPMS A2 flash hider

I don't have experience with this hand-guard but I see no reason why it shouldn't work.  Just be sure to get a low-profile gas-block if you plan to take the rail out past the gas-block.

2)The barrel has M4 feed ramps, but to my knowledge, the PSA upper doesn’t. From what I understand it should feed/fire fine. Is this true?

This will be fine.  Where you run into trouble is if the feed ramps are ground into the upper and the barrel doesn't have the corresponding cuts.

Looks like a good setup for your stated purpose...

I have never seen a PSA upper without m4 feedramps.  IIRC, it has to be advertised as an "A3" upper in order to not have feedramps.

I assumed it didn't, just because it wasn't specified.
