My new 6.8mm upper arrived yesterday. She went onto my DPMS lower with no problem but it's not as tight the original. The original does not move.
If you hold the grip in one hand and the float tube in the other and twist in opposite directions the 6.8 will rock back and forth, not much but enough to give me pause. I checked it with a feeler gauge and at its worst I can get .006 (the original, I can't get .004). I'm new to this and it may be that my DPMS is simply tighter than average and .006 play is well with in reason
My request of you guys is would you please check the play in some of your setups with a gauge? If .006 isn't unusual then I'm good to go.

Thanks, Mike

if it bothers you enough, there are a couple easy cheap methods to tighten it up. a accu-wedge would help, and /or a o ring around the front pivot lug will stiffen things. also make it harder to break down, its your call.
its not a function issue, strictly a "it bugs me" problem.

Yup, it is fine.  If you want tighter fit just use an Accu-wedge.

Tight upper and lower fit, is only for the operators headspace and timing, the rifle don't care.
