I just thought I'd pass on some observations on my new weaponlight set up.  I had a few parts laying around the house and needed a light on my new BCM build, so I brainstormed and researched.

In the end, I took a Surefire E1e body and a Z68 shrouded tailcap and mated it to a Valiant Concepts VME head.  Inside I put a Malkoff Devices M31 LED module.  280 lumens from a single CR123 cell.  Bought a used Gear Sector E-Series mount and put it all together.  Voila!!

I really like this homemade creation.  Its plenty bright enough for all my needs, however, its super lightweight.  I like how the light sits very close to the rail and isn't in the way at all.  Anybody else using a set-up like this?

Here are some photos:

Looks like a great setup. I have tried two different lights on my AR and both weighted ALOT more that that does.

You can get crazy money for a black E1E - I'd hock that thing on ebay and use a E1L or E1B body instead.

Yeah, I used a little Nitecore MT2A, 1xCR123 (280lm for 3min then drops to 180lm) in a Gear Sector mount (off the top rail).
I had to pry the gear sector mount apart to get the nitecore in, and I KNOW it's not removable...I kept waiting to hear the aluminum mount snap.

NOTE:
I'm actually looking RIGHT NOW for a similar setup that is brighter than the Nitecore but still fits in a Gear Sector mount (for the top rail of my AUG A3).
Any suggestions would be appreciated--can't afford all the SF bodies/switches, so I'm wondering if the Vital Gear body will work, etc.
I hadn't considered building one--mainly just looking at brands (Olight, Nitecore, Fenix, etc.) to see what I can find that would fit.

Yep.  I'll have to email them about dimensions of the body.
Wish SF would just sell E-bodies...I hear they can be found online, but my searches from candlepowerforums to ebay haven't turned up anything (except an old e1e body for like $100).

I dig it, but from what I heard, the M31 module can't handle rechargeable cells, which sucks.
