How y'all doin my name is kevin, I am new to the site. Like many others I have been lurking for a while, studying and doing research. I recently jumped in and bought a spikes tactical stripped lower. I think I will be going for the VLTOR rigid upper stripped a CMC two stage trigger and diamond head flip up iron sights that co witness to some kindo optic... As for everything else...barrel, furniture, optics, bcg and ch I have no idea. I will be reading the other threads Tory and get a handle on what will work best for my build. Look forward to building this guy and sharing my experience.
Pics to come.

What is the purpose of the intended build? Home defense? Personal Defense? Plinking? Competition? Long distance shooting?

Welcome...read, read and read some more and look thru all of the picture threads.  Most questions get asked multiple times a week and you don't need to go back very far to get answers.  The more details you give in regards to question...the better answers you will get in response. Learn how to post pics.  Prepare to empty your wallet...BRD is highly infectious.

As I tell everyone your AR will be a tool.  Just like there are hundreds of different screwdrivers for different jobs, the same goes for the AR platform.  FIgure out what you need it to do, and build accordingly.  There is no shortage of opinions to be had here for anything and everything.

My first build is my SHTF Swiss Army knife.  I wanted it to do everything well, without being specialized to 1 task.  I'll share my line of thought if this is what you are thinking for your first... good at all, master of none (although it's REALLY good at many things!).

The purpose is to put down any animal that I want to hunt and any animal that wants in my house...and target rifle...so a mix of those three applications

hunting/long range ars usually have longer barrels and arent the best choice for hd. in typical arfcom fashion get both and a pistol. brd is very addictive. some states have restrictions on caliber for certain game so if you hunt deer make sure 5.56 is ok

I'm not sure about the laws in Delaware, so check your hometown forum for any state specific restrictions before going hog wild...
