[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Newb cleaning question

Is it necessary to remove the upper reciever on my SP1 carbine for field strip cleaning? It has two flathead screws do they just unscrew or is there something else to it?

This is my first ar so your help is appreciated

You must clean the Bolt and carrier etc.
Do you mean the push pins that hold the upper and lower together? Get a Manual its not hard

Yeah the upper and lower recievers. Do they need to be separated for cleaning or does it just make things easier? I took the rest apart no problem but didnt take the upper completly off.

They don't need to be separated, but it makes it easier.
