I was going to buy a dpms in a 20" panther bull .223. I talked to DPMS yesterday and guy told me that there was a 4 to 6 month wait if my gun shop didn't have it in stock. My local gun shop has a RRA in a Varmit A4 with a 20" stainless bbl. I can have that gun today. My ? is this. Is DPMS that much better than a RRA that I should wait the 4 to 6 months or is there not enough difference in quality to justify not going ahead and buying the RRA.

Thanks guys

Well my guess is you want hear a lot of people suggsting you wait for a DPMS in stead of buying the RRA It's nothing personal against DPMS...I own about 8 of them acording to the BATF but only one is complete. Anyhow, it's a good brand in my opinion but RRA has a huge following.

not really, like I said I know nothing about these guns. I have been reading alot about them and from I read RRA is a fine gun if not as good. Everthing I read they have a great reputation. Is it just a personal opinion between folks or a personal preference?

there both good. personally I woulndt wait 6-8 months for anything unless it was a SMG, Can (Sound Suppresor) and other NATF articles
ALSO: check around! just cause one seller tells you 6-8 months doesnt mean you cant get them. I wanted a HK USP tactical handgun .40SW and some seller told me "a few months", I called another store and got it the next day.

i'd rather have the RRA w/ the Wilson match bbl vs the DPMS

ok thanks guys I guess I really wanted to know is ONE BETTER THAN THE OTHER.
The wait came from the guy at DPMS, not the local shot. He said they were behind 18,000 rifles due to the fact that people think the Dems may get into office.

I saw a thread somewhere in here last night with a guy questioning what his DPMS with a 24inch SS Bull Barrel was worth.  He was looking to sell it at some point.  Looked like a nice rifle..Look around..If I run across it again, I will post a link to the thread.

Yeah the RRA comes with a 2 stage trigger on it and the DPMS, its a 136.00 option

Easy decision  the RRA is guaranted to shoot 1 MOA or less and it will.  hell the wait is like 6 months on a RRA  get it now while you can.  get your butt back to that store. It dosen't take six months to get a RR because they are crap they are very very good.

well I did it. I'm now the owner of my first black rifle. I went back and bought the RRA. Hell I figure if I don't like it I can always sell it.
