Hey Guys, I'm in the process of building my first AR-15 and have some questions that I hope you can address. 1. I have a .936 diameter bull barrel coming, will any low profile gas block in that diameter let me mount a free float tube over it? 2. I have a six position collapsible stock, and what I assume is a carbine length buffer. My barrel however will be 20", do I need a rifle length buffer tube? 3. Do most free float tubes come with barrel mounting hardware? Do I need specific hardware for the bull barrel? 4. Is anyone in the Tampa Bay area that would like to tutor me on assembly sometime?              Much Appreciated- Mark

1) Many manufactures make a quality low profile .936" (like YHM or BTE) gas block, many quality free float/quad rail manufacturers will accept a low prof. g/b...just check with
the manufacturer of  the hand guard/quad rail for compatibility.

2) If it has a Carbine length stock/buffer tube you generally must have a Carbine length buffer and buffer spring. Bbl. length has little to do with the stock assembly...If you want
to go with say a Rifle length A2 stock down the road, then you would need to convert to a Rifle length buffer and buffer spring etc.

3) Most of the one's I have used do come with the  Bbl. nut and or hardware, but some do not, check with the manufacturer to make sure what is Included...No extra or special
hardware is normally needed.

Good to know! Thanks for the reply.

Another question I had was with the .936 gas block will I need to run a straight tube, or will a standard rifle length bent tube work? Any benefits to either one?

Ordered my tube today, just need to sort out the gas system and I will have a functioning rifle!

Thanks!-

I run standard tubes on all of my .936.  I have never needed to use straight ones yet.

Apex makes a nice FF tube that will work for you. It used a standard barrel nut.
You will need a barrel nut to assemble your upper.
They can be found at Rainier Arms.
20" .936. That's going to be a heavy bitch
