Are the firing pins in 9mm AR bolts ( Colt style ) different from the standard 5.56/.223 firing pins ?

Yes, generally shorter and they are sprung to avoid slam fires.

Apparently there is a difference in 9mm firing pin also.  The black one is a New Frontier that came in my NFA modular bolt.  That radius kept causing the spring to spread and break coils off of it.  I got through less than 20 rouND's and a coil broke off.  In total, I shot less than 60 rounds before the second coil came off and the spring was too short to work.  The silver pin is a CMMG 9mm pin I had for when the NFA pin broke, since everyone says it will break.  I'm convinced the pin doesn't break but that spring getting damaged is what causes the failures.

How about the firing pin springs?   I noticed that out of three bolts that I have...one of them is shorter and much, much weaker than the other two.   Bought a CMMG bolt repair kit which has firing pin, firing pin spring, firing pin cottor key and an extractor.  Put this longer, stronger firing pin spring in, not that I was having trouble with the orginial weaker spring, BUT.....thought it might be better overall.  Your thoughts?
