You have several different options to work with. You can go low-end, medium-end, or you can go high-end. There are rails that will screw into your existing handguards. There are non free-float quad railed handguards. There are free-float quad railed handguards. It is a matter of personal preference as to which you choose to go with. I sell Daniel Defense free-float rail systems. LaRue Tactical, Samson, Troy, and SWS (forgive me others if I have left some out) all make excellent rail systems. YHM, Midwest Industries, and SureFire all make decent rail systems. Feel free to give me a call to discuss all of your options. I won't try to sell you something you don't need, and I'll get you pointed in the right direction even if it means pointing you towards another AR15.com dealer for the right product for YOU. |
To do it right with the VFG you'll need to get some kind of rail system. There are a variety of free-floated and non-free floated to fit just about anyone's budget. Specify paraemters: Cost, Weight, your mechanical ablity/tools you possess etc. Lots of options out there.
Yes indeed. |
| Best Vertical Grip you can get is the Billet Aluminum CQD Dieter.. you can find it in Equipment exchange here and there for $50-65 . Tango down also makes a nice grip but seems retarded to pay $75 for a "plasttic" grip. Your Best Bargain grip is the KAC vertical grip, there is also a similar grip at midwayUSA for $9 with extremly good ratings for the price. |

My advise is to try and check things out before you spend your money on them. Everyone has their own little system and no two people are the exact same. Colt makes a good rifle. I use a HBAR match for my lower with a noveske upper. Works great for me. Anytime anyone shows an interest in my rifle at the ranges I let them pop off a few rounds. Ive spent hundreds of dollars finding what works best for me and you always have the EE to sell parts you dont like. The first thing to decide is what are you going to do with the rifle. Match, CQB, home protection? Its best to figure out all this befoe you buy. Im really happy with my setup. The trigger is great as is and the upper is very accurate but also the right size for just about any scario. I have the afghan upper which is the legal min length. Its small enough for cqb but its accurate enough I could engage targets at 600m+. Just read through some threads, look over the pictures and you'll get a good idea of what you want there. As far as the rail system Ive used Knights both in Iraq and in the states. Ive never had a problem. On my custom uppers Ive got LaRue which is top notch, but knights RAS and RIS are pretty much drop in. When you get the colt all it takes is about 2 minutes to put the KAC rails in. I can you give tons more of specific adive if you want. Just drop an IM to me... |
The CQD's are nice ive got 2 of them, But TangoDowns dont strip out or scratch your rail up. |
