Hey All, Newbie here, name is Mike. I've got an older assembled unit (built on DPMS lower). Collapsable stock, 16" bbl. (1 in 9 twist) have used several different contract mags. in it. It was assembled by the guy I bought the lower from.. I'm unsure if the headspacing was ever checked. Previously able to put a magazine or two through it before issues started. Will now only fire 1 round at a time. The fired casing remains in the chamber, bolt comes back fully and strips fresh round from magazine, and tries to chamber new round on top of fired casing. If I drop the magazine and retract the bolt, the (now deformed) fresh round falls out. Let the bolt go forward and when I retract the bolt again the spent casing pops out readily. If I load a full magazine and manually run the bolt open and closed it will function fine. I've replaced the extractor and extractor spring with no improvement. Chamber appears decent looking. Bro-in-law with many years AR shooting has no clue. Local gunsmith would not touch it as it is an assembled unit. Any help you folks could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any suggestions, Mike |
