not gonna look through 23 pages of this thread but an old trick i learned from my lacrosse days is used vinegar and salt along with the water and dye, i believe the vinegar makes the color more vibrant while the salt increases penetration of the due...... i could be completely wrong but it's been a while

Has anyone tried to match the original Magpul blue dying sand mags? I would like to have a few in that blue for range use. Pmags at one of the ranges I use have a habit of gravitating to other users benches.

I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me and say "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals.

My walmart had aquamarine (light blue), royal blue, and navy blue. I used royal but aquamarine is closer like you did above. It just means I have to buy more mags! I want to make some using the walmart bag method in the magpul video. |

I ordered a boatload of Sand PMAGs and hit up Walmart for some dye. Here are some 20-round samples with their respective bottles. I did 30s, too.
A couple of weeks ago I did the Royal Blue, Lemon Yellow and Fuchsia mags. I used 1/4 to 1/2 a bottle of each to color 4 mags (2 20s and 2 30s). Today I did the Cherry Red, Sunshine Orange, Kelly Green and Purple. I tried to use less dye for the first three, but I think the results were less than satisfactory (lighter than expected), so I went back to the 1/4-1/2 bottle for the purple mags. I then went back and redid the Cherry Red to get it a darker red. What you see here are the darker Cherry Red and Purple and lighter-than-expected orange and green. It's interesting to note that you can see the outline of an internal rib on the exterior of the mag as a slightly lighter vertical line extending the length of the mag. It's most easily noticed on the purple, blue and fuchsia mags. Start at the bullet point and follow it down past the Magpul text.
