Legal Disclaimer: The poster has no affiliation withthe U.S. Navy or the Us. Navy Seals nor does he purport to manufacture or supply weapons to the Navy Seals. The poster is about to build an AR15 type rifle and does not represent that is was manufactured by Colt or modified by Crane. The poster will be the end user and he does not represent that it will be used by an actual Navy Seal. Due to the confusion resulting from the original post, the title of said post has been changed to "Next Build:: A Rifle." The components of said build were chosen based on the poster's opinion (I'm sure a misguided and erroneous opinion) of their  quality and similarity to components used in real Recce rifles.

So, the Navy Seals use Timney triggers?

Should've expected a comment like that. I doubt the Navy Seals use Timney triggers or Noveske barrels or Gemtech suppressors or alot of other items that I'm using. Just sharing a project thats all.

Prolly because it appears he is building a clone.

I thought we established it wasn't a clone . . even by the original poster's own admission.

I understand there isn't an "exact version" to be had, but you can't tell me any rifle length handguard with a 16" barrel qualifies as a SEAL RECCE rifle.

How 'bout these?

But seriously, I did find this bit of info

Well, I'm not sure then. I don't get into clones, but even if the OP's isn't trying for that look O guess he can name it as he wishes.

Is that a muffler on the rig in the second pic?

Hey man, don't let the sharpshooters put you off.  You're following what's generally accepted criteria for a Recon or Recce rifle build.  If someone here has a problem with that, perhaps they can call Noveske or MSTN who offer parts for such builds and ask to be enlightened.  Sharing information is what this forum is about.  I call into question anyone who here who simply fires a put down at another member and who doesn't substantially backup their comments with reliable information.

Maybe this will help. I changed the title of my original post and added a disclaimer to the body. Hopefully this will satisfy the purists and the current and former Navy Seals who seemed to be put off by my original post.

I'm not put off...just having some fun. I 'll stand by my original statement....Just sharing a project with the board. The only real "Navy Seal Recce" rifles are produced by Colt and modified at Crane and then again, to some extent, by the actual Navy Seal operator. I think most people get that this is a personal build and that I referred to it as a "Navy Seal Recce" because its meant to be similar to the rifle used by Seal teams and that I wasn't trying to pass it off as something its not. Of course I'm not going to let statements of a couple guys ruin my fun.
