I've had my first AR for a few years now, but due to some killer sale prices, I've started my second.  My first build has an 11.5" barrel, FA BCG, carbine length gas system, and an H2 buffer.  Never had a hiccup with it.  My next build has a FA BCG and I'm wanting to run an 18" barrel with rifle length gas.  Anyone with this setup have suggestions for buffer weight? I'll be running a collapsible stock, not a fixed, so the option of a rifle buffer is out.  My lower build kit that's on its way is coming with a carbine buffer, but if that won't work I don't want to have to buy all of them just to figure out which works best.

I hear spikes st-t2's are nice, so that's why I bought one for my second build. I'm sure others will chime in...

If you have a buffer coming try it first. If you need more mass you can pick up some high density tungsten powder, which is used in the "T" buffers, & add as needed.

1lb is enough to do about 4 or 5 buffers. I paid about $15 for my 1lb bag.

I had a 20" barrel with a  rifle length gas system and I found that mine ran great with an H buffer.

There are variables though, so YMMV.

Why?

Can you see it when the rifle is assembled?
