Well the disease has struck again. My first black rifle came in college almost 9 years ago (holy shit) when my broke ass bought a Stag upper and put it on a lower I stabbed myself putting together.
Now that I have a few dollars to better accompany my taste, I figure it's time to go again. My ultimate goal with this is to build an SBR, currently contemplating between a 10.5" and 11.5". Unfortunately, between getting out of the Army at the end of the year, moving somewhere (not sure yet), and the wait times for a stamp, I don't see the SBR being complete for quite some time. But have no fear, I'll get a second upper to use in the interim which will subsequently turn into a second rifle and the cycle continues. So far, the only thing I've ordered is a PSA Premium BCG when it was on sale last week. My thoughts on other parts for the non-SBR are as follows: Stripped Lower-Aero LPK-AT3 with enhanced trigger? (Looking for any feedback possible on this) Buffer kit-open for recommendations. Was leaning towards a heavy buffer for the SBR build, but will that do me much good with a 16" in the meantime? Stock-Magpul MOE or CTR (recommendations?) Grip-if I do the AT3 I'll give their grip a shot, otherwise I'll probably go Hogue Upper-Aero M4E1 16" (recommendations between MLok, Keymod, and standard rail?) Optic-Vortex potentially? I don't know... The goal is to spend under $1000 to build a solid, dependable rifle that I will primarily use at the range but potentially take a class as well. I guarantee as I switch to the SBR I'll eventually either keep this build or rebuild the rest. I'm not in a big rush besides being a generally impatient person, so I don't necessarily mind waiting for something to go on sale if it happens from time to time. I look forward to the process as well as any input from you guys. |

You could always build your 10.5" upper and have it reside on a pistol lower, that is until you get around to getting the stamp. I could, or I could "save" buying the upper until I'm closer to getting my stamp and just build a 16" in the mean time Any input from anyone on the parts? Definitely could use some help. Thanks! |
