Need a good choice for a decent NV rifle scope,
trying to keep the price below a grand, I know stuck with gen 1, primary use of it would be varmit hunting, or when the SHTF, must have a weaver rail capable, plan on switching it from a AR15 to a Savage FP110 back and forth.
thanks

You can get a Gen II AN/PVS4 for about $800 these days, ARMS sells a quick detach adapter that mounts it on a flat top www.armsmounts.com/list.html#20.  Mine came with the M16 mount, which would not fit the detachable carry handle (not enough space in the handle for the nut).

The AN/PVS4 weighs about 8 pounds....

True, but for under a grand the pickings are slim, some Gen II ATN scopes are lighter but they're  more than 1K. www.atncorp.com/NightVision?type=3

I just checked the Army Tech manual and the scope weighs 4 pounds which isn't bad for a scope that was developed back in the seventies . It can still compete with modern day equipment on durability and performance.

Lol I thought the weight was close, it feels as heavy as the 20" HBAR rifle it's mounted on.
