What, in your opinion which would be the best reticle for the NF 1-4x for use close to medium range work, the FC-2 or the NP-R2?

I'm trying to figure out which would be more usefull in different situations. The simpler one seems to me to get lost in some sight pictures, but I wonder if the more complex one would be distracting.

The Nightforce 1-4NXS with the FC2 reticule is amazing, certainly the best short to mid range scope I've ever used.  My gun wasn't built for benchrest shooting so the 1-4 FC2 reticule is absolutely prime.  I find the 5MOA dot excellent for <200 yard shooting, which is my max range anyway.  Beyond that, I find a simple hold over using the bottom of the center dot gets me center mass.  What more does a guy need really?  It's nice, real nice.  I haven't played with the illuminated reticule yet, but I'm sure it's a good time.

One recommendation on the scope is that from my swapping it onto a few different uppers with different configurations - the FC2 is NOT a good choice for a fixed front sight base.  The reticule really "pops" when it has a wide open FOV with no obstructions in the sight plane.  Yes it's that good.  Oddly enough, part of me now finds the BAC of an ACOG a little distracting.  The FC2 definately has a natural feel to it and it almost aligns itself when you shoulder the weapon & point at your target.  My 2 cents anyway.

It's made for a flattop with wide open real estate to the muzzle.

A lot of the guys like the FC-2 but the NP1 that is like a German reticle is also nice.  I prefer the NP1 because it has think lines on the out side and thin lines on the inside so it is fast and accurate but if you are after pure speed the FC-2.  As for the NP-R1 I would not recommend it.

We have them in stock.

The NP-R2 is used for mostly holdover work at medium-to-long ranges, not for close-to-medium work.

The NP-R2 is too busy for what you want, I say FC-2.

Wes is good at that.  He is also responsible for helping me outfit some slick AR15's too

Though he certainly does take a mean photo.
