Hi, a friend of mine just got himself an 18 inch barreled AR15 that came with a quad rail. He was asking me how to put a normal mid length hand guard on it. I ask him why and he hands me the rifle. IT WEIGHS LIKE 20 POUNDS!
He wants me to put a Magpul MOE on it, but I have never messed with quad rails and I think it doesn't have a delta ring with the quad rail. I don't see one under the rail. |

What brand is the rifle and/or rail? You most likely will need a proprietary barrel wrench to remove the barrel nut. You will then need, as you state, to install a delta ring and an end cap at the FSB/gas block to retain the forward end of the hand guard. Need more info and the majority of the weight will be in the barrel and possibly the handguard depending on which. |

The top rifle in my picture began life as a Colt Accurized Rifle. If I remember correctly, the original hand guard was also the barrel nut. Once I removed the hand guard, I installed a barrel nut which, in your case, would allow a delta ring and MOE hand guard. Mine also weighs a ton as the barrel is 1" in diameter under the handguard, but recoil is minimal.
