I have a SIG516.  Can I install an upper that isn't piston driven? (I know I'll have to get a new bolt carrier)

I wanted something different and I figured I could save a couple dollars by just buying the upper half.  I was sure that it wouldn't matter, but I wanted to get input before I buy the upper and realize I have to get the lower too. I'm looking at bravo company for the upper.

Just found the answer to my question. Sig parts are not interchangeable with other brands. Guess I'll be buying a whole new rifle.

If you perfer sig you could always get an M400

Otherwise there are awesome options to build/ buy elsewhere. ( being a sigfan I have yet to buy an m400 but it's in the plans! )

according to this article, you can put other uppers on a sig lower. I had to look because I wasn't sure if they were mil spec or not...

Thanks for the info.  I listened to to the propaganda from the sig haters lol.  I wouldn't call myself a Sig fan; I don't like shooting their pistols as much as others (Glock, Springfield).  But the 516 intrigued me and it was my first AR.  Apart from the M16 I have to qualify on when I deploy or go oversees, I have very little knowledge of the platform.  That is why I joined this forum.
