Looking to pick up a couple Gen 1's. I'm not very knowledgable regarding Noveske gear, but from my understanding, Chainsaw lowers are good to go. They state small blemishes.
Are Gen 1's a safe bet? What's a good ballpark price? Just need a couple for some builds. |

Small blemishes are pretty much what it means, HOWEVER, it varies from receiver to receiver. One might have nothing an owner will notice, while another owner runs to teh internet and cries fowl because he can see a few glitches areas. Like John Noveske, and Sheri said multiple times, they were not in business to sell chainsaw parts. They never took top of the line parts and marked them just to sell them. If you are a freak like some people here (not always a bad thing), and really fixate on how your receivers look, the chainsaw series are not for you. On the other hand, if you buy and build stuff up to actually use it, chainsaw should work quite nicely. I know the above is common sense, but there are people who have posted complaints about buying a chainsaw receiver because it had blemishes. |

Chainsaws should be perfect for you in that case. I'm fond of Chainsaw builds and have nothing but good things to say about them and the folks in Grants Pass who sent them to me. If you're leaning that way, go for it.
ETA: I got my lowers direct from Noveske and uppers from Rainer, FWIW. Blems were nearly imperceptible - one being a thinner anodized spot inside, and the other a tiny nick (1mm) on a top edge. Prices were the same at both places, so I just got uppers and lowers from wherever they were available at the moment. No need to wait for a matched set. Non-chainsaw stripped uppers are close in price to the Chainsaws with FA and door installed, so it's a toss up on uppers in terms of value. I'd just get what you find in stock. |

I don't own any safe queens. They all look beat to shit, but work like charm.
