I purchased a Noveske 16.1" SS barrel a while back for a build that got put on hold due to running out of funds.

I recently found some extra bucks and purchased a Noveske Gas Block direct from Noveske.

When I tried to put on the block to see how it fit, I saw that the bead blasted finish did not cover enough area around the gas port. I was also unable to get the block over the "neck" on the barrel where it steps up to the gas port section. I ordered the .750"
block and I do believe that the Noveske barrel is .750" at the gas port also.

I applied some CLP to the barrel and block to see it would slide a little easier, but I don't think that without a hammer I could get the block on. Of course I would also destroy the finish and possibly create a new profile for my barrel

Any idea? Should I scrap the barrel and get a different one? Should I scrap the block and get a larue (exactly what I sold to get the noveske block)?

It looks like those Noveske SS chrome lined barrels have a different setup on the gas block portion and would likely work with the block I have now. I could possibly get a larue and another noveske barrel and then I could have 2 unfinished uppers with no completion date in site.

1- He leaves that section smooth so that the end user can install the gas block or front sight base of their choice.  If you want a low profile that will cover the whole area then you should take a look at the Larue gas block which has an extended piece on the front to completely cover the area.

2- Use a torch to heat the gas block up.  It will expand enough to fit on, although you may need to use a mallet or a block of wood to move the gas block and get it aligned.  This tight fit helps to ensure that as the weapon heats up during use the gas block will stay tight on the barrel with neither movement nor gas leaking.

If you are using a low profile gas block, I'm assuming you are using a Rail that will cover the barrel.  The small area shouldn't look bad imo.  If you are anal as me, then you can go with a Larue, MI or Samson Gas block which will be long enough to cover that length and will be low enough for most rail systems.

I used a Hammer and a Tap to install a PRI .750 gas block over a bead blasted finished WOA stainless steel barrel recently.

I put a folded rag over the LPGB so it wouldn't get marked up.

I suggest you try what I did.  Just put a little CLP on the inside of the Gas Block and take a smack that thing.  I suggest cursing with your teeth grit as you do it.

I contacted Noveske and he told me to start a thread in the "Build it yourself" forum. I was just following orders

Damn, lighten up dude. Just asking a question.

I guess I should only post about news events, spiders, what I'm drinkin and partially naked girls.

Thanks for the help to the rest of you guys. I am going to go with a Larue and probably keep the Noveske block so I have an excuse for another build.

Does anyone know if the Larue will fit under a DD Lite FF?

I know the larue will fit under the old DD rails. So I am sure it will with the new. On some of my builds I have extra long Rails. M4 carb with car gas system but I put on a 12 in Larue rail. Gives me a little longer sight radius for the Buis and covers the gas block completly.(kind of looks cool too)
