The only reason I sold my Colt was because I hated the Re-Re front take down screw and the Super Re-Re "Enlarged" fire control group pins... Just couldn't and wouldn't get over that non-standard "S#iat" as it bothered me... It was light's out accurate but the Recce that was built with the proper spec's and FF quad rail A4 is better. Just took this abomination out to 700 yards. Shooting 9holes review style engaging 200-300-400-500-550-636 and 700 yards with 2 hits each. Cleared it in 32 shots. Pretty happy about it. Attached File |

So I'm picking up a new 20" Aero from a friend tomorrow for a song. Considering the RAS is unholy expensive if you can find it, I'm leaning toward the Midwest Industries drop in because it looks fairly similar. It's that or be weird and get the mlok version. Any opinions on 2 part rails for rifle gas?

So I lucked into a M5 RAS earlier this week to put on my GWAT ish 20" build. Taking the old handguard off, I was surprised that it's a medium contour (I'm guessing) barrel on a current production DPMS. No idea why it's not a government profile, but okay then.

I brought along one of my newly re-done 20” rifles to go cut firewood; it has a 20” TNTE 1/7 A1 pencil profile barrel but with M4 feed ramps, an A2 muzzle device, C7A1 style OD green furniture, and a DD A1.5 fixed rear with PA micro dot. Very light and handy.

 20" Aero upper Aero M4E1 lower Magpul furniture Vortex Spitfire 5x Burris Fastfire 3 I was inspired by the Canadian C7A2 and the M16A5 concept hence the rear sight sitting in front of a prism. I know it is not quick deploy but is mostly there for contingency as I keep the appropriate allen keys in the grip to remove the optic and move the sight back. With the prism and red dot, I don't think I will be using it too much. Took it out recently to sight it in and was very happy with how everything turned out. Its a budget conscious build but still fun. |

Here is my newest 20" build, fresh as a one day old baby. She was sighted in this afternoon for a second time, the first time the scope placement was too far to the rear, and I have to admit I'm still not totally satisfied with the placement. I might just find it better for me with an A2 stock.
