My first complete build, almost entirely a Spikes build, a dedicated 22 upper.

Spikes - Lower, Upper, LW Barrel 14.5" + 1.5" in the Receiver, Fake Can, Receiver Extension
DPMS LPK from Spikes
ARMS #40 BUIS
TANGO DOWN FDE VFG
VLTOR EMOD and CASV-M + Front Sight
Black Dog Mags from Spikes
Badger Tac Latch on a Carbon 15 Charging Handle
Blue Force Sling

Waiting on some more funds to get an optic and a matching FDE EMOD, single point sling, and a FDE Magpul MOE + Grip...

Should get to test fire it later this week.

I used a little to much anti seize grease and it got everywhere, and it was a pain to get off of everything that it touched, otherwise a solid build, just need a test fire.

Poor quality camera picture, but maybe you can make it out. M&P 15-22. Decided on a dedicated rimfire AR rather than a conversion. I am really pleased with the performance and accuracy.

Yes I know my selector is on fire position. I already did my penance so leave me alone.

The new BDM 50rd drum is delightfully good fun.

Runs like a champ so far.

Need to get a different colored magazine.  Swapped out my railed handguard for the magpul one... just felt like it fit the .22 style better.   Simple, light, effective.

Sorry for the bad pics but it was dark and raining so a natural light shot was out of the question.

100% Spikes with Lothar-Walther barrel, Spikes Muzzle break, KNS pin kit and MOE furniture. Pretend like you didn't see the el cheapo red-dot. I didn't have the cash for a BUIS and a new scope this week

Just got this upper...

Specs:

22rf Spikes Tactical upper
9.5" barrell
YHM Spectre lightweight rail
Fakepoint red dot
YHM Mite 22 suppressor
BlackDog mag
Magpul CTR butt
Hogue grip
Redimag
YHM scope riser
YHM f/r iron sights

At first go, I had 1 failure every other round.

Now I have about 1 failure per 25 round mag. (Prolly 200 rounds thru it to date. In my experience, pretty much every 22rf semi needs at least 500 rounds thru it before you can judge it's functionality)

Seems to have more marginal functionality w/o the suppressor. The hammer will sometimes not engage the sear, and will ride the bolt back into battery. Did not "slam fire."

Rem subsonic works real well with the suppressor. Rem Thunderbolt /  Golden Bullet all worked well.

Noticed it helps to push the mag up into the mag well when firing.

In my estimation (including what I've heard from other people) I would not recommend going with a shorter barrel than this. Especially if you want to shoot unsuppressed, or FA.

I may have a new favorite guys........

Picked it up from my dealer friend last night.......WOW. I love it.

Didn't waste any time switching items out, can't buy a gun and NOT throw $200 worth of stuff on it right away....that just wouldn't be right.

Ran 3 mags through it this morning.......25 rounds of Winchester 333/555 and 50 rounds of Federal Bulk Wally World stuff.

PERFECT......and I love how it has a real BHO

Until we get a break in the weather I'll have to wait to see how it shoots. This is a M1S 20" std kit with a free float CMP front hand guard, Hbar, and a  2 stage RRA trigger. The lower is from Essential Arms with tough coat. The fit and finish on both the upper and lower are very nice. The tone and color match almost perfectly. For the picture and a little tactikool, I installed an A2 carry handle rail and a BSA Contender scope. I might use the scope sometimes. Most of the time I'll be using the iron sights, cause I built this rifle to pratice for NRA High Power.

Congrats on the new rifle. Dont' forget the throughly clean your rifle before the first trip to the range. Also, use some good quality rounds: CCI Mini Mags, Stingers or CCI Standard Velocity are recommended. I have great result using them, S&W recommended the rounds in their new user manual as well.

I have a ST-22 on the way and just wanted to know if swaping out the handguards and changing the front sight post to a flattop "gas block" is the same as any other AR upper?

Yep....its all the same.  It's a "real" AR and the only things different are the bore of the barrel. the bolt assembly, and no need for a buffer.......everything else is the same.

Those are great pictures.  I happened to be in my Local GS yesterday and saw somebody with their M&P 15-22.  It fooled me at first and I thought it was an AR15.  He showed it to me and told me what it was.  Now I want to get one!  I was going to get another 10/22 and tacticool it up, but this looks some much better and will match my two ARs I already have.
