I use an ADCO barrel spacer to increase distance between the break threads and collar shoulder - and get plenty of turns now. Can mounts up solid. Another option is to custom machine your collars shoulder further back, so you get the same effect of more turns on the threads. Are you using a long collar with a PRI FSB? |

Well Brownells A1 lowers will be here soon, Mod 1 upper is finished, just need to tighten a few screws. Only thing I'm missing is a butt plate for the A1 Stock.
And because you guys suck I got a second A1 lower for a Mod-H build... |

EDIT: Whoa, what a coincident. I was writing this post and doing other things...I didn't even see the above post. The rifle I mentioned below is very similar to that rifle above.
Are there any modernized version of the MK12's in the military today? If not, what happens to all of the older Mod 0 or Holland parts...like rails, handguards, sights, etc..? I'm going to assume they get demo'd. :( The military would make a killing selling off parts. I was in the Marines when they were slowly phasing out all of the older cobble job MARSOC 1911's (the few I held/got a good look at were so beat up and the frame/slide clearance was hilarious). The Marines could have made a lot of money selling ex-MARSOC 1911 frames/slides since many of those dated back to WW2. My battalion gunner felt the same and asked around but that idea was shot down with a quickness. Makes me angry so much history is just cut to scrap. The reason I asked about modernized MK12's is that I just saw a youtube video of some type of M16 variant that I couldn't figure out. It has a NF 2.5-10x24, Larue LT104 mount, offset Aimpoint T1, Harris bipod, KAC dimple suppressor, CAR stock, and what appears to be a DD handguard. I'll post the video I'll post the video below...it's taken from a helmet cam so and it's the rifle he's holding. Definitely looked like some type of DM style rifle, wasn't sure if this is some evolved MK12 setup. I just rarely see bipods and that optical combo on standard M4's. Warning for naughty language. Copy and paste...the video will start at the spot where you see the rifle. https://youtu.be/gspATMWOqus?t=210 |

I need to get a mk12 mod 0 out of my system; it's been killing me for a long time. Is buying a complete upper from PRI good to go? I'm no clone purest, I just want the look I was going to swap up my recce and do a mod-h, but I don't think I'll be happy until I go balls deep on a mk12.
If the PRI uppers are g2g, which one? The retro or the new? |

Not the real deal I know and guys here know but personally I've never even seen one of the older swan sleeves for sale anywhere so I'm pretty sure obtaining one isn't going to happen. If I had seen one if own it. Period. any pictures? and what did he use to fill in the gap, is that tough enough not to come off? It looks pretty tough. I'll post pics when I get home. I'm not sure what he used. He told me but I don't remember. I use Devcon epoxy which is pretty damn tough. Same stuff people use to bed their rifles. I don't charge just ship it to me. |

Well that's the idea behind "cloning" Imo, none of these are real deal mk12's...it's to make your ar15 look as close as your significant other will let you get to a real one. |

My point was that's really the only option at this point. I would love to have and would probably pay a rediculous amount to have that part but I have never even had the opportunity. On the other hand I kind of enjoy the custom built parts like the braceman lowers, Chenault's sleeve mod, haveblue's nls ring mod. It gives the gun a uniqueness. |

NO I have not called Leupold yet just though I would check here first and might get lucky and someone would have an extra 1 they wanted to get rid of |

I asked that exact question. There is no mk12 marked windage knob. I got the elevation knob for 36.00. We need someone to make a batch of ones marked mk12 mod 0. I'd be in on that for a few. I don't have skills like that though. I've been a mechanic my whole life. My hands can't hold anything still enough to do that kind of painting. |
