So fresh and clean!  You have any pics of your Pelican case set up?

Link Posted: 8/30/2015 12:36:14 PM EDT
[#9]
Thanks AC. After a sloppy attempt to cut the middle layer of foam with an electric bread knife, I gave up and just don't run a middle layer. The top and bottom pieces provide enough tension around the gun to hold it in place and prevent it from moving around in the case. I keep my mags and everything separate (kids in the home), so my SBR is the only item in my Pelican case.

Back on track with a pic

Nothing wrong with running the blade, and it's by far the best pistol option while you wait for your stamp.

1.  I no longer have any of those grips, they are all gone.

2.  More?  No, aside from looks and being 4x, it is very different than the ACOG.

3.  I like it quite a bit as well.  I do think it will be interesting to see what happens with the next rail contract. Will big Army jump onto the "Special Guys" contract, or will it be an entirely new set of parameters given for the new rail?

I'm just giving you shit on the grips bro. If I can't be mean to Stickman on a Tuesday night then what's this world coming to?

As for the Browe I've never used one, so I have no idea. I think big army may eventually get the ris ii. It'll be expensive though. So they may just get a new weapon entirely, which would be even more expensive of course.

ATF took $200 from me and granted me permission to exercise my right to build this.Almost went with one of the Western Sports DD uppers with the Omega X but opted to go with the Mk18 factory upper and am glad I did.

Not quite up to clone status but it serves me well

Despite the fact that this would be the most logical, and probably cheapest and easiest way to do things - based on the Army's past procurement efforts, I sincerely doubt it.

In all fairness, I don't think they're really... "allowed" to do it that way, either - they need to have a request for proposals/competition/testing, etc. - but essentially they'll write a requirement for exactly the same thing, but they'll throw in a couple of their own odd requirements (like free floating an M320A1?) and spend several years and several million dollars getting back to exactly the same place they started, except costing twice as much per unit, and being about eight years behind the market.

Or they'll develop it in house, and end up in exactly the same place.

Or both.

Regardless, it all ends up in the same place.

::shrug::  IMHO, it'd be nice if instead of making mountains out of molehills for incrementally different handguard systems and do a joint solicitation and procurement with USSOCOM and put their combined resources into developing a fieldable powered-rail system, and do some "magic" to allow a COTS purchase of RIS IIs.

Of course... between years of development and research and competitions (IC, M4 PIP, etc.) - what we ended up with was the same M4A1 that has been available more or less since 2005... with an ambidextrous selector lever.

I might turn the 12.5" into a proper CQBR, but not until I have $$$ to get an NT4. Which might be never. The BII M4A1 just never got me going.

If I had any money left I might help you out with it. All you have to do is look how brokedick my CQBR is to tell I'm broke. I'll prob end up turning it into a Block II as well though once I get a new job, and move to a better state so I can get it off of its horrendous pistol lower.

I tend to prefer the block 1 configuration in a 14.5, which I have in the (slow) works because of super tight funds.
