| Does anyone use a vortex sparc ii or similar red dot in an offset position with a rifle scope? Just wondering if the red dot will fit in that position next to the scope. Thanks! |
| I understand the smaller red dots are preferred for offset mounts but I already own the sparc ii and love it and don't want to spend anymore money. Do they possibly make a quick detach mount for the sparc so I can witch between that and the scope quickly if I don't like it in the offset mount? |

The sparc should fit just about any of the t-1 type QD mounts that are out there. For the Larue mount you might have to get the HK t-1 mount in order to get a true co-witness with the sparc. |

I've tried offset mounting red dots that size and smaller (4.6 oz Lucid M7, Bushnell TRS-25). Not only are they bulky, but the combined weight of the dot and the mount when added to your scope and its mount and any other accessories you are running really make the rifle heavy and unwieldy.
You might be better to QD mount it in good LaRue or ADM return to zero mount and swap with your scope. That's what I am presently doing with the M7. Another option is to invest in one piece offset iron sights like the new offset Magpul Pros. They add no weight to speak of because they replace your top rail backup sights. Yet another option is to run a high quality micro reflex like an RMR or Deltapoint. Those only weigh 1-2 ounces and are very compact. The good ones are not cheap. I am waiting for release this summer of the duty grade Deltapoint Pro. It will go in a LaRue LT-137 which replaces a LaRue SPR ring half and nestles the reflex between the scope turrets. If I could not afford duty grade reflex, I'd look at the Burris Fastfire or new Redfield Accelerator. They are each small, light, relatively affordable and have a lot of mounting options. |
