i am currently building a 6.8 AR and i just completed the upper.  before i even thought about it i lubed and oiled it up. will the oil do any harm to my upper parts while it stored for a couple months until i get a lower receiver. should i just wipe all the oil off or will it be alright ??

you want oil, to keep the red dust known as rust away.

ETA
a couple of months, I coat in rig grease, depending on my storage conditions.

It's fairly dry here in AZ.... I have 98 Colt LE gun that I never shoot.  It's been in my safe for about 12 years largely with no use ever.  Nothing special as far as oiling and all that stuff... and it's fine.  I dust it off every year or so though.
