| Does anybody know if the Olympic Arms AR pistol upper (the one with a gas operating system and no rear recoil assembly) is interchangeable on different pistol lowers or do you have to use their lower receiver. I already have a pistol lower and I'm getting ready to post a "want to buy" so I need to know what all is possible. Thanks, Bob. |

The 203 pictured was bought through Urban Armory. I have four barrels, one 12" I picked up from Gunbroker, and the others are 9" I got from a few auction sources. Subguns has a lot of parts here and there. I got the complete parts kit form Destiny Densley over at Impact Arms, and my site. She's done a few articles in SAR, on the 40mm stuff and is a very good source for parts and work. She also fixed my 79 receiver up for me. Some of the 79 parts I got from J&T, some from her, and some from auction sites. The 203 pictured is a Shivak manufacture. I'm looking at the stripped receiver at http://rapidfire.targetweb.net/cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi/agora.cgi?cart_id=3890307.14193*Ih0rY7&p_id=02118&xm=on&ppinc=big
which would give me a 203 for a total cost of around 650. Just have to put it together. There are several 203 and 79 parts on Gun Broker now. Randy Shivak over at 40mm.com makes parts, barrels, and rounds also. The paperwork is the easy part. Making your own ammo is the hard part... ok, the really hardest part is KEEPING the ammo around without firing it... GROG |

Here's the general rundown... Oly used to sell both the pistol length and carbine length OA-93 uppers, but they don't anymore. You could call / email them directly and ask if they'd still sell just the upper since it's not on their site any longer. http://www.olyarms.com/index.php?option=com_contact&catid=26&Itemid=3 Name Position Phone Darrell General Sales 1-800-228-3471 ext. 107 Tom Sales Director (800) 228 - 3471 George General/LE Sales (800) 228 - 3471 ext. 101 Roger General Sales (800) 228 - 3471 Justin General/FFL Sales (800) 228 - 3471 You can use the upper on any lower, but you have to keep in mind there there will be a big hole in the back of the upper where the buffer tube goes, unless you block that off or use a tube anyways. The lower that comes with the factory OA-93 is actually closed off in the back, to alleviate the need for a tube (particularly since the entire system operates above the upper receiver). It probably also eliminates the possibilities of making it illegal by adding a stock. And just for y'all, here's a little gun porn... http://www.vosaclub.org/uploads/HK-93-side.jpg |
