the allen-head screws that secure the hg to the barrel nut, how do you know they are going to hit a tooth and not a void?

Does my question even make sense?

I assume the holes are located to be sure they'll hit the nut if it's properly timed with the gas tube etc.

I haven't looked but the screws may be inward enough that it doesn't matter.

the whole mounting system gives me teh heebee jeebees.

I like DD, but can't believe its as stable as a troy or other clamp type system.

I put a vertical grip on mine, and torqued it as hard as I could.  It didn't budge.

I have one on a 9mm carbine which I use to shoot USPSA type matches with on a monthly basis.  I've used it since last fall.  It has a VFG attached.

The rail has been rock solid ever since installed.  The rifle is used pretty hard, bashed against barricades, etc. and the rail hasn't even given the suggestion of movement.  I'd suggest that it is good to go.

Believe it. Mine is rock solid. The same thought went through my head while I was installing it...

When I took my Omega off for inspection, the set screws had planted themselves several thousanths of an inch into the steel of the barrel nut.  When properly secured, you will seriously screw up your barrel nut and gas tube before getting one of those things to torque over.

If your barrel nut is timed to allow the gas tube to pass through it there is no way in hell the allen screws on the DD Omega cannot hit the nut.  I have them on 2 of my carbines with permanently attached muzzle devices and can assure you they are rock solid.  Buy it you will like it.
