I was just curious of how many people have just one complete lower and multiple complete uppers with different configurations?  I am working on building my first rifle and I am toying with the idea of only having one complete lower and building two separate uppers one a 20" varmint rifle and the other a more standard carbine in 16" or 18" length.  Is this normal?hanksdbnorton

I have one this way (my 6.8).  But I've said this before, and I'll say it again.  Having a spare upper around is dangerous; when you're not looking they get into your wallet and before you know it it's shacked up with some strange lower that mysteriously sprang into being.

i think alot of people start out with that in mind.

but lowers are fairly cheap, and they usually end up with one for each upper.

What the other guys said.

I'm pretty sure I have more uppers than lowers right now, but once you've dropped 500-1000 to build the upper another 200 for the lower isn't a big deal.

I have my M4 style upper, thinking about getting a longer plain jane upper to mount my bipod on and use for target shooting :)

Well, if you've got the bipod just sitting around going to waste then then you obviously need the upper to go with it...

funny this was posted, i have been entertaining the idea of a 20" A4 upper to swap out on my .458 SOCOM. AND then thought, it's not much more to get a lower to go with it....

it's not an addiction, I can stop any time I want to....... I just don't want to

I was thinking about getting one of those DPMS MK12 uppers to use on my LMT lower which has an LMT M4 style upper on it now.

Those MK12 uppers look pretty good to me.
