Since there have been many points of view on the GSE buffer (and GSE in general) I was wondering what sort of recent experience people were having. I just signed the CC and filled out all the paperwork yesterday for a lower -- purchased as a handgun. Will pick it up on Thurs or Fri, and in the meantime am contemplating the pistol I really want to build.

I like the length of the GSE buffer, and according to some it can be made to work with a bit of tweaking. Anyone out there w/ recent experience? I had heard that GSE pistol uppers used a slightly modified bolt carrier to make them work reliably with the short buffer, True?

Must say my M-92 Yugo "Krinkov" pistol is dead nuts reliable built from a parts kit and homemade receiver flat, so I'm spoiled. Help me make my Yank pistol as good as my Commie piece!

Thanks.

I have one of there kits and the only change I I have made is a

"Xtra- power" Wolff long slide 1911 spring cut to length

that being said I have about 600 rounds through it with no problems

I ended up using a Model-1 sales old style buffer tube and guide with the Bushmaster spring and buffer. I cut down my bolt carrier per one of the stickey threads and then turned a spacer for the buffer cap on the lathe.

Works 100% flawlessly.

My understanding is that they now have changed over to using cut-down carbine tube springs instead of the 1911 recoil spring.

I'd love to hear from someone who had one of these. I'd just buy the whole kit from GSE, but they don't offer a 1-7' barrel.
