Is it true that if you have a optical zoom scope, like a Leupold that zooms. You will probably want it to have "1st Focal Plane Reticle" so when you zoom, the reticle stays the same size and does not grow as its zoomed?

If you intend to range with the reticle (like a mildot) at any magnification then yes, otherwise it does not matter.  Leupold is not fond of FFP reticles.
