I just bought a S&W MOE 5.56 and want to add a scope to it.
The scope I want is the Viper PST 1-4x24. Now the hard part for me. What mount or ring height to use, with the A2 front sight and proper eye relief with a compact scope ? Some that I have looked ( online ) at are: Burris PEPR Vortex Cantilever Mount Larue SPR 1.5 LT104 I figure someone here has already done this, so I could save some time and money on returns that don't work. |
| Larue, ADM, Bobro are the best choices since they all QD without tools. Sphur is nice but way overpriced and no QD. There are others but those are the most popular. Which one is best is just personal preference. I like Larue since they have many options and I like sticking with one QD design instead 4 different ones on my rifle. |

I have owned P.E.P.R., Larue (LT104), Bobro (extended), and the ADM (Ad-recon). By far the Bobro is the nicest. It's the easiest to use, does not need to be adjusted, and feels like it's welded on when clamped. I would rate the Larue and ADM as equal, with the slight edge to Larue for the free swag. The P.E.P.R. comes in way last, although you can argue that it is a good value because it is so much cheaper.
Most guys will tell you: Larue!! because it is popular, and more than likely they never tried Bobro. |

I use the Vortex ADR-X cantilever QR 3" offset mount with my Viper PST and am very pleased with it. It locks up nice and tight and every time I removed it and reinstalled it it returned to zero perfectly....it also looks good IMO. I had a tough time deciding between the 2" and 3" offset but am glad I went with the 3". I shoot with the stock two positions away from fully closed so the 3" mount puts the scope a little further forward and in perfect position. I
