While I have been to many local Fun Shows I have never really been on the look for a "decent" set of glass.  Can deals be had on optics in your experience at Fun Shows or would I be better off saving gas money for the 2 hour trip and buying something online?  Thanks for any advice.

I see 99.9% garbage and .1% overpriced used ACOGs

With the prices I have been seeing at fun shows lately you are way better off looking on line.
I never really looked for scopes at a gun show because the really is not many that aren't already on guns and the ones that are on tables usually look beat to shit and old. Getting a good deal at a gun show is getting to be like hitting the lottery.

Be on the lookout for cheap knockoffs at gun shows.

Thats kind of what I was thinking as well.  Seems like deals at fun shows are few and far between anymore.  Im gonna stay home and surf the web.

+1 on this. Knock offs and over priced used originals,

+1.  Internet is the way to go these days.  There might be exceptions out there, but it's almost insulting with what they offer (quality and/or prices).  Customer base seems to be noobs and people without email.

Same here and watch out for the knockoffs, because they are everywhere.  Me - I wouldn't buy an optic at a gun show.

The equipment exchange is the new gun show.

I shop online for any gun parts since i'm very picky. I wouldn't buy an optic from a gun show since it's all junk. I know the local gun stores don't carry many quality scopes since people are also picky about their scopes, too many different options. Check out SWFA online they have good deals.

Every time I leave a local gun show I tell myself it is the last one...but somehow my truck just automatically drives me there when one is in town. I guess I’m always on the lookout for something new and you really never know what you may come across....but I do know you will never come across a decent glass piece.

I never see any descent optics.  Nothing but China knockoffs and overpriced used stuff.

Every Fun show I've been to sells junk copies.
If you do see a nice scope they want your first born for it.

99% of my scopes have been bought from SWFA.
They have very competitive pricing and the customer service is tops.
Just research reviews and check forums for any feedback on any particular scope you select.

SWFA also has quite a few Kit sales that offer excellent savings.

(no, I don't work for SWFA.  Just a satisfied customer.)

This......the shows in my area are good for $45 Glock mags, $40 used AR mags, UTG, NCStar and beef jerky.

The large, reputable, dealers at my local gunshows have decent prices on firearms (equal to internet + shipping and FFL transfer)...but I've  never seen good deals on quality accessories.  Just over-priced junk.

I don't even get the pleasure of over priced used stuff at the gun shows here - just NCStar, Leapers, BSA and occasionally low-end Bushnell hunting scopes, along with a lot of made-in-China brands that I have never heard of before, but are "the latest high end gear all the professionals are using".

Last show I went to all I bought were ammo cans. Lots of people milling around the very large NC Star table though. Made me want to vomit. Also found the guy who wanted $20 for a 30 rd box of IMI M193.

The vast majority are airsoft knockoffs or chicom/leapers/ncstar garbage.

Any authentic optics (leupold, aimpoint, eotech) are way overpriced. Last gun show I went to had an open box eotech 512 selling for $575, they can be found around $400 online everyday cheaper if you have a coupon code.

About all I would look for at gun shows anymore is beef jerky and ammo cans. Anything else is retarded expensive. It's fun to listen to the bullshit though. "All the Delta Operators are using NC Star scopes mounted on the carry handle of an Oly Arms carbine. OTD for only $2,000."

Dan took the words right out of my mouth...

A more efficient use of time is to get aggressive regularly searching the EE here and elsewhere.
