I have an early 60's Colt 3X.  Of the 4 screws that attach the scopetube to the mount itself  3 are buggered up and 1 is missing.  Does anyone know where I might get 4 replacement screws?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would try Colt's customer service first. I then would go to your local hardware store with a good screw and see what they could find. It may be a common screw for them which they may have in inventory. I found the same thread screw for an ARMs mount a few years ago at my local Ace Hardware. It worked fine.

Does the good screw appear to be normal thread, or is it the much finer gunsmith's thread?  If the latter, if Colt can't help you, be in touch with Brownells.  They likely will have some.
But I wouldn't count on finding gunsmith's thread at a local hardware; there's no call for it except in firearms, and perhaps cameras.

If you have a fastener shop local to you take your good screw and see if they can match it up.

The Colt scopes were made by someone else so it's unlikely that Colt can help. I THINK Simmons made the Colt scopes so you might check with them.

the first ones were made in the USA by Realist.  they were then made in japan, i suspect due to the variations in them, several manufacturers made them.

If its an American made scope, you may find something.

I had this problem with a Japanese made scope. The Jap scopes are M4 x 0.5 as far as I can tell, and I couldn't find anything in this country without it being a custom made item.
