I have seen some amazing customer service in my time around firearms...glock "upgrades"...Colt replacing new barrels that nobody even knew were defective and would probably have worked...but last week I saw the best example of customer service that I have ever seen.

I sent a Colt LE6920 to Wes Grant at MSTN.  I wanted to get a LaRue 7.0 installed.  A day after it arrived, I answered the phone and it was Wes telling me that he had some bad news...not sure what it was, I cautiously said "ok...".  He advised that the barrel nut had been installed too tight and that they didn't use any anti-seize on the threads.  To top it off, when he tried to take the old barrel off, the receiver had split in half, right along the rail...yes, cracked all along the rail.

Somewhat shocked, I figured that my $250 project just went to about 400 bucks.  Wes then asked me what kind of new upper I wanted, CMT, STAG, LMT, or VLTOR...FREE OF CHARGE!

Now, even more shocked that he was going to replace something that was not at all his fault, I asked for a VLTOR and a few days later, I had a new VLTOR upper with a LaRue 7.0 installed in my hands.  It is perfectly square and everything is lined up perfectly.

I offered to pay for it again when I got it and he wouldn't take a cent for the new upper.

When people ask why I buy products and have my hard use guns built by more expensive Smiths, that is why.  When it comes from Wes or Denny, I KNOW it will work and I KNOW it was built right.

So that was your upper that we saw the photos of.  Nice deal.

Buying a Colt should get one out of the 'If you want it done right, do it yourself' committment.  But I guess not, even with Colt.  Shrug.

You can't go wrong with Wes.  I could go on and on about why, but I really don't need to.

Absolutely, he is the go to guy for gear that is headed into harms way.  Just about every SPR/RECCE upper that I saw in use when I was in Astan came from Wes and they ran like a top.

It is easy to make a gun that works on the bench, his uppers worked in some of the worst environments you can think of.
