I am a gun geek, a scale model geek and a table-top role playing geek.

The gaming geek created a session where the characters were SEALs in Vietnam.

The gun geek in me convinced the players to take some less common guns, including an R607 for the platoon leader.

The model geek decided to make 1/35 scale representations of the characters.

This lead me to make my very first R607!  Dragon makes a kit that has just about every AR variation made through 1990.  The bottom pic is how it came on the sprue.  I put the stock in an extended position and changed the mag from a 30 to a 20 rounder since the session was set in 1968, before the 30 rounders became available.

The player reminded me today that he had an AN/PVS-2 mounted to it.  I sputtered since I now know how big that scope is.

It feels good when my hobbies all align.

Are you ging to paint that little fellow so he looks like he's wearing blue jeans and a tiger striped blouse?

That's a cool hobby man. Anything to do with really small things takes a lot of patience.

"hello mister silver pants, I'm gonna paint you blue..."

Just a little quote from "The 40-Year Old Virgin," not saying anything but it just came to mind

PS: I have dabbled in the wargamming geekery...

Yes, tigerstripe top, bluejeans.  Doing the research for this sort of thing is part of the fun.  Slung over his back is a scratch built China-Lake pump-grenade launcher.  It's got lots of little (literally) errors in it that don't show in person but stand out in a detailed photo.  Painting will hide a lot of it!

1/48 is well supported for armor.

They also make 1/35 Hueys.

but the 1/35s are expensive... I scored 4 blackhawks in 1/48 for around $15 each

Now I just need to find some UH-1Ds and AH-1G/J/S...in 1/48
