I can't figure out how to sight-in my .22.

It is a CMMG AR15 with a dedicated .22 upper. I'm using a Primary Arms M3 reddot in the 1/3 cowitness mount (higher one, i guess?). I have it mounted as far forward on the receiver as possible, and it's tightened down nice and snug. I know it's not exactly high quality, but people seem to like them, and I figure it can withstand the fearsome recoil of .22.

I have windage set alright, but I can't get the elevation right - I have to aim about 5-6 inches above the target to hit it with elevation dialed up all the way. I am sighting in at 25 yards with Federal Bulk, if that makes a difference.

Did I over-adjust and break it already? If I turn the elevation knob the other way, the POI shifts downwards still.

I was figuring that between the short range and higher mount, that the bore off-set was too much to be corrected. Confirm/Deny/I'm an idiot?

Thanks!

1.) Sight in your iron sights first.

2.) When you get that right, go to #3.

3.) Adjust the red dot to the top of the front sight.

That's worked for me, and it's perfect.

Also,, I don't even think I could do that if I did...I've completey run out of elevation adjustment.

Since he did not have irons the easy way is to remove the upper and bolt and sight down the bore. Then adjust the dot to the same spot. That will get you close.
