There are some green out there. Insight was working on an upgrade with a green laser a few years ago, not sure if it went anywhere or not. Last time I checked those were still being experimented with. Probably are still in "development" phase, waiting on someone at FT Benning to review the proposal and see i they can identify a need or requirement. I should have specifed that when I said "some with Green", that could very well be a sample of 2, I know I saw at least that many with a INSIGHT rep. |

I have been running a PI DBALa2 Green for the last 6 months.
Several of us used this version at an LMS Low/ No Light Operators Course in Alliance OH last week. http://lightfighter.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/458100756/m/103104037?r=312108637#312108637 The PI DBALa2 has several improvements other than the green vis laser, which is pretty impessive of and by itself. There are some pics of this on Lightfighter. |

Just to set the record straight, there ARE some ATPIALS out there with GREEN VIS lasers. I've used their HP version awhile back that was in green. As for both units, BOTH IR pointers/illuminators units are way too darn bright for close in work. Why there was not a requirement for a Lo/Lo, Lo/Hi, Hi/Lo, etc. is beyond me except some pencil pusher behind big Army's desk did not have a clue. Supplemental IR illumination such as LED IR illuminator (Surefire Vampire) helps immensely with both these units.
The new modeled DBAL-A2 does have a new VERY clean IR beam along with a re-modeled body housing that is a cinch to negotiate the IR illuminator adjustment. The old versions adjustment knob was recessed more and took much effort to turn the knob and was a real bitch in cold weather. |

Preach it Brother! Also too bright for precision shots at 50m. I run a SF M1 on the helmet, and while good for navagating, is marginal for shooting. I don't yet have a Vampire, but have been running a Lasr Devices OV3- a major plus. Not sure i like the switching system yet. |
