That's decent ammo.  Well made and high quality, you may find it to be a bit less hot than actual GI M193.  I've fired lots and lots of 1980s PMC and it's always been great for me.

Welcome to the Black Rifle club/disease and ARFCOM!

That stuff not been around for about 13-15 yr that I recall.   Used to find lots of them empties.

Likely something that got put in the back room, and finally being dug out all these yrs.. making about 300% on what it used to sell for.

That or someone traded in some stash for a new gun.

Yup I recall that stuff for $1.99 a box when I was in high school and my buddy had a mini 14 and we'd blast a lot of that stuff.  I can remember him bitching when it and norinco went to 2.25 and then 2.99.  O, to have a time machine.  We used to prefer the PMC in the camo boxes to the norinco.  I guess we were in the vanguard of tacticoolness.

Yeah it could be old stock the gun shop is trying to rotate out from a personal stash or trade. PMC has been making 223 ammo since early 80's. That coincides with the 1981 head stamp meaning probably 26 year old ammo. PMC does sell newly manufactured 223 in a slightly different brown box. Some of the police agencies here use it for training ammo and it runs well. Do a search for PMC 223 and you will see images of the current brown box they come in as it could be the new stuff. Even if it is old, it may still work fine though.

I remember buying it in high school too for about $2.19 per box. They came in a heavy wood crate and was labeled PMC Poongsan Metal Company. I guess they tried later to make the company sound more western sounding and later called it Precision Made Cartridges.
