| It is my understanding that most frangible bullets are compressed copper dust formed under very high pressure and thus are very brittle...the brittleness is what makes them "dust" when hitting something hard like metal...Even when fired at hardened steel, frangible bullets can leave a mark...it's just less than a regular FMJ bullet...remember that velocity is over 3000 fps and pipe is not that thick, and not that hard, so I am not surprised at all to hear of your results. Frangible bullets definitly have their place, but they are not majic. |
I've done it at 10 yards or a little less during training. With the right steel, in can be safe. I wouldn't recommend it. With the frangable ammo, you shouldn't have to worry too much. It should have turned to dust. Could they have been reloads in a frangable box? |
| Its a possibility, but im pretty sure they were frangible. I remeber the bullets being silver colored and the were shaped in a different manner from those that I had shot before. The box said they were 40gr. But I did notice they were loaded into winchester brass. Does this sound like PMC ammo? |
