I ordered 2 FDE mags from Primary Arms a few weeks ago, got them, and when I actually looked at them a few days later I noticed they do not seem to match any FDE pics I've seen online. They are much too hard, and all the FDE pics I've seen online are much lighter tan colors. I prefer the tan color over the color I received. So I emailed PA, sent them a photo, and they send me two new ones. The ones I just got less than 5 minutes ago again look the same, but maybe even a bit darker. Can someone please look at the these photos, what color is this? Is it FDE? I don't own any FDE products yet, I have some parts on the way but they just don't look like anything I've seen online.

The first pic is when I received the 2 mags a few weeks ago, the second pic has one of the 2 week old ones and one of the new ones I just got this afternoon.

FDE is much darker in person than it looks online. Those PMAGS are FDE.

If you're fussy about colors matching, you should probably stick with black.

If you have the time to fuss about whether the color of an expendable item perfectly matches something else that you don't even own, you have more time in your day than 99% of us. Count your blessings, OP.

Mine are the same color as yours, and I want mine darker... They aren't as dark as my LMT SOPMOD and ERGO grip I got from the factory(LMT)...

Those mags are FDE. Don't worry so much about how they look, it's almost impossible to match the color of different products, i.e. , stocks, grips, mags, hand guards, even when they're from the same manufacturer. Pmags and MagPul products are Top Shelf and work. If they don't, the folks at Magpul have excellent customer service and will help you out. I've never had to use their customer service because all of the stuff i purchased works very well.

Trying to match colors from a computer monitor will always be difficult at best and almost impossible at least.

Yup.  Camera settings play a role too, plus many of the online hosting services process the files on upload which can effect colors too.  Ambient lighting can reek havoc on photographs, with incandescent, fluorescent, LED, and natural lighting producing dramatically different results.

Trust me you have the correct color, FDE is pretty dark and even has some brown green hue. I'll take a quick pic with the flash on and off of one of mine to illustrate the difference.

Anybody remember when black was the "it" color?

I like the FDE, but my rifles are black all the way.

Do they not match your shoes or something?

Black isn't the "it" color anymore because nothing in nature is black...  That's why guns are turning earth colors now.

I ordered a couple of PMags a few months back and thought that I had selected O.D Green or something else by accident. Turns out that it is just the color that they are. Much less tan that I had expected that they would be.

FDE is very reactive to lighting changes. That's one of the reasons it was developed. It looks almost tan in bright desert sunlight, but looks almost brown in a dark wooded area. In any event, it's a much more naturally ocurring color than black.

They say your rifle should match your environment. My couch is called "camel" suede and it's a great fit for the beige paint on my walls too.

Maybe you should tell that to things like cape buffalo, jaguars, many snakes, and such.  Many animals that are accented in black, have an ability to hide quite well.  Like zebras, tigers, leopards, and the like.

That said, I like colors.  LOL

Troy Battlemags and Magpul are fairly close to matching. However, those are the few FDE products that I have found that are that close. But when compared to some of the other products there are differences in color. That being said, breaks in color, accents are what make camouflage effective.

There are slight differences in colors. I'm not quite done with this rifle. Plan on duracoating the upper and lower receivers to get as close as possible to matching. Little off won't bother me. Plus, once the upper and lower start wearing the base black will begin showing through. I like light/dark colors complementing one another though.
