Folks, I still don't get the routine for posting images. The desired pix reside on a Yahoo storage site, among pix of my distant relatives, who I am sure no one wants to see! How can I separate them out and post them?

I'm not sure if Yahoo allows you to share pics, some of us use Hunt101.com. When viewing a pic on your host site you should see a URL address somewhere on that page. Highlight and right click "Save" for that URL. On AR15.com when you post a reply you will see below the Message box a button for "IMAGE". Click on that button and a seperate window will pop up where you can then insert the URL from the site hosting your image. Click "OK" and the complete URL will be inserted into your post for you!

Hope this helps!

Open a FREE accounta at Villagephotos.com...you don't get very much bandwidth, but it's enough to keep 4 or 5 pix active for a while.

Once you've set up your account, upload the pix you want from your hard drive into an album you've created.

Once the pix are there, there is a handy dandy tool there to copy the URL of the pic...but this only works with Internet Explorer; if you're using Netscape, it's a tad more complicated...let me know if you're not using IE.  Also, villagephotos wants the pix in .jpg format; if they're in something besides that, lik .bmp, any shareware photoshop type program will allow you to view them/change the format.  I suggest Irfanview, as it will also allow you to crop/resize the pix while you're converting them.  Anyway, after you've clicked on "copyurl" , it saves it in the clipboard, for use in a moment.

In your post on AR15.com, you need to put img and /img before and after the link to your photo that you paste into your post.  You have to enclose the img and /img with [  ].  So basically, you put the text of your post, then just right click where you want the url to your pic to go, hit "paste", and it appears.  Unfortunately, I can't type the "img" and "/img" with brackets here to show you, as it thinks I'm actually trying to put up a pic...but minus the brackets, it would look like :

"here's a pic of my_______:
imghttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/188491/exp1.jpg/img"  DON'T FORGET THE BRACKETS!!

With brackets in the right place, you get:

Pretty spiffy, eh?

That's all there is to it.  Once you've done it once or twice, it'll be second nature to you.

Yahoo doesn't work - I tried it. They must be using some sort of redirect protocol to prevent people from linking (and thereby preserving bandwidth -cheapskates) I use Hunt101 - works good except when their site is down - and it's free to join.
