Ok I am sure that this has been ask before but here I go.
Can someone with California Registered "Assault Weapons" add the evil features now that the federal ban is no more? I have been told yes and I have been told no. The reason that I ask is I have three that I would like to un-neuter. Thank you for your reply.

Well, if it is already a 'registered assault rifle' with the PRK - yeah, its already evil, so you can just make it more evil now.

If  adding these parts would turn it INTO their definition of an assault rifle, then NO.

For example, adding a flash hider to a registered AR would be ok.   Adding a pistol grip to a Mini14 would be WRONG.

Lame.

Thanks for the reply. That is the way that I look at it as well . I just don't want to do anything that could get me into hot water.
Has anyone talked to the CA. DOJ on this matter?
From what I understand the California "Assault Weapons" ban did not ban by features. So once the Federal ban went away you should be able to put the good stuff on our rifles as long as they are California Registered Assault Weapons.
Some day I have to move out of this state.

ARs and AKs, as well as the original 1989 Roberti Roos guns, were banned BY NAME, so features on those guns are irrelevant; they had to be regstered as PRK AWs.

But SB23 also banned other semiautos by FEATURE.  Example: you can buy a FAL, as long as it has no pistol grip.  You can buy an M1A, but no or flash suppressor.  All of the federal AWB features EXCEPT bayonet lugs are totally banned on non-registered semiautos in the PRK.  You could have one feature under the old federal law, but zero in the PRK.

Hi everyone ,
Thanks for the replies, looks like to be on the safe side I will just leave them be for now or until I move out of this state to a more AR friendly state.
