I've been having difficulty passing my 38 inch Tipton fiberglass rod from breech to muzzle.
It simply flexes too much to get enough force and jams at the throat.

My only choice has been to pass the rod with a very small nylon jag
from muzzle to breech and then clean by pulling towards muzzle.

This procedure has a number of hazards...
1. I could be harming the crown without knowing it.
2. Since Im unable to use a bore guide i may be coming in
contact with the sides of the bore.

The fix is simple - pick up a new rigid rod.

..ANY SUGGESTIONS?
(I have a 16 in and 26 in barrels)

TIA

My Tipton CF rod is ok for me. I think you need to use the proper size jags but trim down your patch. A patch that is to big can really cause a lot of pressure and jam up your rod. Try using a smaller patch and report back.....I'd bet the farm that is your problem.

Ditch the fiberglass for a Steel Dewy rod.
or
try smaller patches.
or
try a Dewy bore guide.

Try placing the patch slightly off center on the jag towards one of the corners.  This works well for me.

Go buy a cheapo Hoppes rod for $5 and be done with it.

I Use 11/8 in x 11/8 patches cut into 4's. So each patch is ~1/2 in square.

I cant even push a brush without a patch in breech to muzzle!

do you use a bore guide?

Can you get away with a shorter rod?

I miss read your post. I use Tipton Carbonfiber rods and they are great. I have never seen a Fiberglass rod.

Carbonfiber is as good as my Dewey rods.

YOUR USING DOUBLE NAP COTTON PATCHES AND USING A .22CAL BRASS JAG?

ONLY OTHER OPTION IS GRAB THE ROD CLOSER TO THE CHAMBER TO MINIZE ROD FLEX.

Your problem is most probably the patches you're using.
.22 cal patches can be funny.  Some brands are definitely too tight.

I'd recommend that you try Hoppes .22 cal patches.  Hoppes patches are different from most other manufacturer's patches.  They don't look like little squares of cotton "T" shirt like most manufacturer's patches do.  Thay're made out of a material Hoppes calls "Sontara".  This material is thinner and there isn't the usual obvious, coarse weave.  They don't fray and leave little bits of thread.  And they aren't so tight in the bore; they're juu....st right.

The problem was with my Tipton carbon Fiber rod!

It simply would flex short of the force needed to do any of the
cleaning!

I tried a stiffer rod with synthetic covering and it worked like a charm!!

Thanks for all your replies!
