I’ve been following this since they announced it at SHOT a couple years ago and was very excited to get my hands on one! I got lucky and grabbed one the 3rd day they came in stock. As long as the 5.56 runs well, I fully plan on buying the 300BLK. For me, the most attractive parts of this gun are: No buffer tube AR lower/AR mags AK gas system Tool-free Adjustable gas block Non-reciprocating charging handle Monolithic upper I picked it up from my FFL as soon as I could. Attached File Since there isn’t a ton of info out there, I decided to take a few pics and do some videos(below). Attached File Attached File Attached File My charging handle had a poor finish. It looks like a bad bluing process, but it is only cosmetic. Attached File Here’s a picture of the receiver extension area which many are curious about. First trip to the range, and I managed to break it! PSA JAKL First Shots... I Broke it!! Seriously. Not surprising, but I’m very thankful that PSA has been very responsive and accommodating help me get this fixed, even though I take responsibility for the breakage. They’ve sent me a return label and I’ll be shipping the upper back to them. I’ll let you guys know how the fix goes, what they do, and will test it again afterward. So far, I really like shooting the JAKL so I can’t wait to get another couple rounds through it! |

| I haven’t weighed it, and can’t now since the upper is on the way back to PSA. However, shooting my 10.5” 5.56 AR pistol back to back with the JAKL, the weight difference wasn’t noticeable enough to be memorable or worthy of mention. |

@palmettostatearmory Im having some trouble getting the upper returned as requested. I never received the actual return label, just an email from UPS saying a return label would be sent to my address. It seems like it was set up as a call tag but UPS isn’t coming out. I called and went to UPS but they can’t print the label for me or email me a copy. I called CS/Repairs and they couldn’t see anything in the system regarding the original return and wanted to create a new repair request. Im unsure how to proceed. Please advise. Thanks! |

Done. Thanks for the quick reply! Update: <1hr later and issue resolved. I have a shipping label. Thanks for the prompt action/resolution! It’ll be in UPS’ hands tomorrow.

| The JAKL is about 0.6lb heavier than a similarly setup 10.5” AR pistol w SBA3. It doesn’t feel much any heavier but the scale says otherwise. |

I got my upper back from PSA pretty quickly. They added a detent for the gas knob disassembly position, sent me a suppressed specific knob (haven’t tried it yet), and sent me 40rd of AAC 55gr ammo . Aside from an issue with the first UPS return label, I give them an A+ for how they handled the situation and in my book, how you handle an issue is more important than whether you have an issue. Sorry, but I haven’t shot any of those. I strongly considered buying the BRN-180 but couldn’t get over the charging handle. The FM-15 is the same price as the JAKL but I really dislike the look of the skyscraper top rail on the FM-15, it looks like an afterthought in the design process. The MCX is very attractive but at $2500 is tough to justify. |

@jerz_subbie Wanted to follow up to see if you’ve shot it much more suppressed. In the video I think you mentioned having little gas to the face. I’ve got a Turbo K on mine and seem to be getting more gas to my face on the suppressed setting than my 11.5 AR had. I guess I was expecting a noticeable improvement and am a little disappointed. |

We have a new baby, so getting to the range has been way down the list lately. So no I haven’t shot it since that last video. I will be going next week though. Interesting that you’re getting more gas to the face than your AR. The difference between my 10.5” AR and the JAKL was huge, with regard to the gas. I’ll likely shoot at my friend’s range next week and he has a Turbo and Turbo K so I can test them out to see if the larger bore of the ResK is playing a big role in the reduction in gas. A few questions about your situation: same ammo through both guns? Which ammo? Adjustable gas block on your 11.5”? |

I had put the upper together so long ago that I had forgotten that it does have a superlative arms adjustable gas block on it. Must be bleeding most of the extra gas forward. Ammo was the same 55gr federal black box. |

That says as far as gas goes, standard AR > JAKL > AR w SA gas block. Unfortunately the only rifle I have w and adjustable gas block is a 14.5” w an SLR, tuned to run Wolf (super soft shooter!) so not really a good test. |
