I am new to AR-15's and am building my own.  I have significant experience building 1911's and feel like I can do this with the research that I've done on this site.  Here is the upper that I ordered:

As money allows, I plan to add a midlength free float rail.  My question: does anyone know if this upper has the flash hider pinned/welded?  Looking at the pictures, it seems that it would take a 3/4" wrench and a vise to get it off.

I ordered the PSA stealth lower and PSA LPK.  I know that it is not the best, but I felt that it was a pretty good setup for me to learn on.  Plus, it was the most reasonable set up that I could find with a 1/7 barrel.

It should just be threaded on due to its a 16 inch barrel.

It is not pinned/welded so just a wrench will do.

Are you planning on removing or chopping the front sight base?  You link a carbine upper.  You could always get the extended two piece free float Centurion rail and keep the front sight.
