Does anyone run this flash hider/muzzle brake on their AR and does it actually function well as both a flash hider and a brake? And for those of y'all who have used the Surefire MB556K, is the recoil reduction at all similar to the PWS FSC556?

Functions good as a brake. Not very good as a flash hider.

BattleComp is a better all-around device.

But it's my understanding that BattleComps are actually flash multipliers and in low light situations, can throw up a big flash. Any truth to that?

No. BattleComps are marketed as devices with comparable flash to an A2. Watch any of the night shooting comparisons between it and an A2, and you'll see that it's comparable.

Between a BattleComp and a PWS, the BattleComp is clearly superior in the flash hiding department. They're pretty much on par with controlling muzzle rise. The PWS is also louder and more concussive which is another negative.

I'm afraid I would have to disagree on one point- the Battlecomp is not as good as the FSC556 at compensating, and in my very humble opinion, noticeably so. Battlecomp is much better at flash suppression, and is a very good comp.

Battlecomp 2.0 is also twice the cost of the FSC556.

BTW, the FSC556 will slap around anyone next to you. Pretty concussive.

Not sure about the battlecomp but I have the PWS.  Its a great brake with hardly any muzzle rise if any at all.  Makes for a very controllable rifle and isnt as loud as some other I have (YHM phantom).  It's not the best flash hider but then again isnt not really meant to be one.

True.  I have a FSC556 on two different rifles. I love them. My shooting buddies hate 'em.

Having tried both, the PWS definitely works better at controlling muzzle rise imo than the battlecomp.  The difference from shooting my AAC Blackout equipped rifle to my FSC556 equipped one is pretty dramatic and well worth the money if your objective is to get more shots on target in less time.  As for flash suppressing, it's pretty bad at it and the concussive force felt to the side is pretty harsh.

It does well as both, if I can find it I used to have a pic from me firing it and the the flash was comparable to the spark of a lighter.

ETA: how about a little video, only saw three flashes.

I love the PWS FSC.  Never shot it in the dark...  My only complaint is it gets some rust spots from shooting wolf and surplus ammo.  That's right I shoot wolf...well at least until I win the lottery.

I run one on my AP4 .308.  It is absolutely amazing in recoil reduction.  I can actually stay on target when shooting.
