I recently purchased the PWS MK112 upper to be paired up with my newly built AR pistol lower and was curious about what weight of buffer I should be looking to use, with a dedicated FA556-212 Suppressor. For the moment, I threw in a H2 buffer I had laying around. I know it has an adjustable gas block, which this will actually be my first AR to sport, but just trying to figure out if there is a minimum weight or ideal one.

Obligatory picture of the project, as it waits for the upper to arrive.

If shooting suppressed and using quality ammo I would try running an H3 with standard carbine buffer spring. I would start out with the H2, load one round in the mag, set the gas setting to #3 (commercial grade .223) and see if the bolt locks back on the empty mag. If It does, try the same procedure using the H3. If you are using NATO 5.56 (M193, M855), try setting #4 as well. I purchased the PWS brand H3 buffer from Primary Arms.

I own the PWS MK1110 (not suppressed) and the bolt would NOT lock back on an empty mag when on gas setting #2 when using commercial .223. When PWS says setting #2 is for NATO ammo, they mean it. Lake City 5.56 M855 "Green Tip" was the most reliable on #2 and is loaded hot.
