I came across this locally and couldn't resist.

P M forge code upper.

Looks new, never assembled but with some handling marks.

I'm not sure I'm keeping it but it is very tempting as the color is a close match for my modern lowers.

It would make for a easy "Retroish" build. Modern lower and charging handle. Easy to find parts. I'm warming to the idea.

My cursory google searches leave me without a clear explanation as to this upper's origination.

Philippine or replacement parts?

Whats info have y'all heard about these?

And lets see your builds on these P M uppers!

these were used heavily on commercial builds in the 80s and 90s.  you could do a retro commercial build.

I have a like new, PM upper that I'm probably going to get rid of. It doesn't fit the one lower I've tried it on perfectly but I have yet to try it on any others. Sure is pretty. Maybe I should strip it for parts.

i had one like that.  the upper was drilled to mate to one lower and it wouldn't fit others.  heatnbeat opened up the rear hole to be more oval like they are should be instead of a perfect circle and that fixed it up for me.

This one is tight as well.

Had to tap the take down pin back out on the lower I tried it on.

a rat tail file could open it up a little.  it's not an original so i wouldn't worry about modding it.

That's what I was planning on, but I forgot to pick one up today. Not sure where my other ones are. Even if I sell it, I want it to fit, you know? It's part of that Rhino upper I bought, which I'm planning on breaking up.

Here's another pic, mine is on a very early A2 PWA commando lower and it fits fine." />

I've heard that Oly took out of spec uppers and other parts and made lowers to fit them.  IE: parts swapping is difficult or worse, that might be where some of these poor fitting uppers come from.

OP: I think a black PM upper on a black lower makes a nice cheap retro.

Fitment has been about the only issue as stated.  Would make for a cool Elisco retro build.  Maybe in a  LW carbine.  They seem to have a couple A-2 parts (door and delta ring) so one could be done very accurately for less than the Colt marked builds.  I've started two but could never find a barrel until I gave up and sold the uppers.  Not to mention BCG's aren't floating around like Colt's.  At least on this side of the pond.  Seem to be kinda popular in the archipelago.

Hmm I thought I recognize that PM upper.  It sure looks a lot better than it did sitting around my parts bin

yep, that would be the one, went through a few PM uppers to find that good one, the trouble I was having was an oblong rear sight pin hole on most of them, maybe someday I will put an A1 lower on it, but I really like the commando lower better.

Well the upper that I bought thinking I would flip it is quickly turning into something I might hold on to for awhile.

Pulled the lower half of my 603 that doesn't match for crap and it is almost perfect with this P M upper.

Hand tightened my new DelTon mid length lightweight barrel on it and here is my 651.5

It's got a type E butt stock and I have another charging handle and BCG coming for it.

A darker rear sight assemble is on it's way as well.

I also think I'm going to use a big round forward assist, if it will clear the A2 lower.

What y'all think so far?

651.5 - I like it, and that designation.

I love it!

I call mine the Mini16A1.

It's got a 3 prong now. When I get a partial fence lower on it I'll call it an XMini16E1

I remember that one.

It's the reason I bought my middy barrel in the first time.

And full discloser, I totally stole the .5 designation from somebody else on this forum, Banshee35 maybe?
