I've got some red and white model paint that I'm going to use to paint with. Just wanted to know if I should wipe the area down with anything before hand.

Absolutely.

Clean the area with alcohol, degreaser, or acetone. Removing any residual oil from the surface is important.

I'm using some of the Testors model paint, and wondered what I could use to remove any mistakes I make that wont mess with the finish. Paint thinner?

Paint thinner will work fine, as well as acetone.

Not much will harm that finish.

A lot of GLOCK owners use Crayola Crayons to do the same thing. Just color over it, then wipe off the excess. The paint would definitely be more permanent though. Post pics.

I really wish I had used crayons instead. It doesn't look BAD, only one of the "SAFE" am I not happy with. Both of the FIRE's seem to have a redish tint around them now, and the one safe I'm not happy with has like a ghost effect around it where some of the white got out of hand. For one I wish I had used a toothpick instead of a brush. Oddly enough we have no toothpicks in the house. How that is possible I don't know.

Paper clips and the right consistancy of paint is the key. Toothpicks can become saturated. I used to go through the trouble of using copper wire strands until I learnded every Sig sight was dotted with a paper clip and paint before going to them for assembly less than 20 miles from my house. (Along with quite a few other manufacturers sights)

china pencils have the consistency of a crayon, or grease pencil....BUT they dry hard.

I got mine at the local art supply store. I tried coloring my first lower's markings, and I thought it looked strange, so I cleaned it out.

If I use the enamel model paint, do you wipe off the excess while it is wet, or wait until it is mostly dry?
